Strategy for the ‘how’ as well as the ‘what’.

Organisations in both the private and public sectors are beginning to improve the way in which they create strategy (normally thought of as an expression of what an organisation is trying to achieve). However, increasingly – particularly in these straightened, cost-cutting times – greater attention is now being turned to how strategic outcomes should be delivered. In my view this is still about strategy – identifying the most appropriate (optimal) service delivery model to achieve a set of strategic outcomes. Taken together, a strategic view of ‘how’ as well as ‘what’ can be an engine for organisational transformation and renewal.
